Tami Oliveira was born in Salvador-BA, 1990. Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). Awarded a one year scholarship at Art & Design University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia through the National Research Council (CNPq) in 2013. At 14 years of age, she was selected into the art magnet Design and Architecture Senior High School in Miami, USA from 2004 to 2006, where she began her artistic development.
Tami addresses existential issues, inquiring about the limitations of fragility and the subtlety of things. Through painting, drawing and ceramics, she investigates the object of art inspired by occult symbolism and indirect narratives. The artist pursues this relationship between the visible and the invisible: a presence that reveals itself through the essence of being and that lingers long after it´s gone. She removes or adds over silhouettes in an attempt to hide / reveal an identity. The image is gradually deconstructed and reconstructed, either by transparencies, tonalities, forms or lack thereof. The artist comes from a two-dimensional trajectory of painting and drawing and is heading towards the construction of narratives on ceramic supports, experimenting with engobe as a chromatic substance.
She was selected for Circuito Triangulações 2015 and Circuito das Artes, Editions 2015 and 2014. Group exhibitions include ‘IN | FINITO´ in Galeria Cañizares, Salvador 2014, with artwork in the following exhibitions: ‘Tomar Uma Coca-Cola Com Você‘ in ACBEU, Salvador,2013 and in Art and Culture University Center (CUCA) in Feira de Santana,2012. She debuted her paintings in the solo show ‘Fragmentos Íntimos´ in 2012 and launched a book of drawings of the same name, MAC Editions, in the Contemporary Museum of Art of Feira de Santana the same year.
